Stormwater Retention Ponds: No Fishing

Stormwater retention ponds serve a vital role in our community to hold and distribute rain runoff. Fishing in Stormwater retention ponds is not and has never been allowed. Stormwater retention ponds were not designed nor intended for recreational activities. The ponds are chemically treated to keep algae and other vegetative growth in check and contain runoff from pet waste, fertilizer and pest control treatments. The pond maintenance company treats torpedo grasses at the edge which result is soft and unstable pond edges.

Native wildlife also lives in our ponds and helps to maintain a balanced ecosystem. Our HOA stocks the ponds with specific approved species fish to mitigate algae blooms, not for fishing purposes.

No fishing / no trespassing signs have been installed recently. The CDD installed signage on the Twenty Mile pond in the Outlook and HOA installed signage at the Spanish Creek pond. The HOA is considering installing signage on all ponds as a reminder that fishing is not allowed.

The Sheriff department has been informed of the signage.  Dispatch will deploy deputies to the pond when issues are called into the non emergency line.

Appreciate our community abiding by the no fishing rules.
